Zachary Martin, MD
Zachary Martin was born and raised in North Carolina. He actually attended his first UNC basketball game while still in utero and has been a fan of the Tar Heels ever since. He went to UNC – Chapel Hill for his undergraduate degree,
where he majored in English and minored in Chemistry. A few years later he returned to UNC for medical school. His 3rd year of medical school was spent at a satellite campus in Asheville, NC, where he rotated in several community emergency departments. He enjoyed it so much he decided that was what he wanted to do with his life. He liked UNC enough that he stuck around and completed residency there as well. During his final year of residency, he served as a “wellness coordinator”, which basically amounted to scheduling times for the residents to get together to eat and socialize. He personally felt like he flourished in the role. His wife, Liz, works as a pediatric oncology nurse. They chose Oahu to relocate to because both were ready for something new after residency and it seemed like the most fun and interesting place they could possibly live. They don’t have any kids yet but did bring their two fur babies with them – Cora the pit bull mix and their dapper tuxedo cat Iggy.
In his spare time Dr. Martin enjoys reading, cooking, hiking, running, playing basketball and soccer, grilling, and pretty much anything else outdoors.
