Spencer Salazar, MD
Dr. Spencer Salazar grew up in Southern California and started volunteering at Loma Linda University Medical Center Emergency Department at the age of 13. This sparked his initial interest in Emergency Medicine, and he continued to volunteer as a medical scribe until he graduated from the University of California-Riverside with a bachelor’s degree in Cell Biology and Neuroscience. He earned his medical degree at California Northstate University College of Medicine and then returned home to complete his Emergency Medicine residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center.
While in residency, he rotated with the Hospice and Palliative Medicine service
and gained a sense of fulfillment by relieving suffering and aiding patients in their most vulnerable moments. This inspired him to complete a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at the University of California San Francisco-Fresno. Spencer is eager to bring all he has learned about high quality palliative care and end-of-life symptom management to anyone in need of those services in the Emergency Department.
Spencer found his way to Oahu thanks to his wife, Peri, who is a U.S. Army
veterinarian at Schofield Barracks. They are excited to be closer to family and to
continue growing their own family. Spencer enjoys being a new dad and spending time with his family. He loves hiking and running around the island and is ready to take up surfing.
